PARTICIPANTS IN CANCER CARE TRAINING COMMISSIONED

Fifteen of the sixteen participants who completed an eight week training session in learning how to care for cancer patients, their families and caregivers, were commissioned in a simple but profound ceremony in Arima, at Grace Communion Church Trinidad, on Sunday 6th May 2018 before an appreciative congregation.

The participants were commissioned in the name of Jesus Christ by Wayne Rajaram with his wife Carol standing at his side. Wayne and Carol had attended a Cancer Care Training. Sponsored by Cancer Treatment Centers of America for church leaders. In Zion Illinois in August 2017.

In his prayer of commissioning over the four men and twelve  women, he thanked God for each of them, for responding to the call to make themselves available to serve in this area of need. He asked God to honor them, to give them the courage, the boldness, the heart of compassion and the spirit of discernment, to minister to those in need and carry a message of hope through the gospel of Jesus Christ.

It was truly a day to celebrate Jesus, for continuing to equip the saints for ministry.

THE CANCER CARE MINISTRY

In August 2017, Wayne and Carol Rajaram attended a Cancer Care Ministry Training in Zion, Illinois. This leadership training entitled “ Our Journey of Hope” was sponsored by Cancer Treatment Centres of America to minister to the needs of cancer patients, their families, caregivers and friends. It was focussed on preparing church leaders to lock arms with cancer patients and join them on their journey to bring a message of HOPE.

Having benefited from this training, the Cancer Care Ministry was launched at Grace Communion Trinidad and Tobago on Saturday 24th February 2018 with sixteen participants. The two hour long sessions will run for eight consecutive weeks and will seek to sensitize each person to the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual needs of cancer patients and with God’s help, respond to those needs.

What is the impact?

Imagine you are feeling afraid, rejected, alone, powerless, ashamed and hopeless. Envision, then, if someone comes to you and says words that no one else has said, does things that no one else has done and leaves you with courage, strength, dignity and hope for the future - and God's plan. How would that affect you? What if it changed one day? What about 10 days? 100 days? What if it helped you through to see another whole season of life with hope?

This ministry is vital, the need is great and only a few have answered the call. If your heart goes out to those impacted by cancer and you believe that God wants their hearts to be filled with hope, then it is time to begin watering the seeds planted in your own heart.

If God has given you a burden to help cancer patients and would like to respond to their needs more effectively, please call Grace Communion at 667-2557 and leave a name and contact number. Information on the next cycle of training will be posted on this website.
